Hurricane Updates for Westminster Shores

Westminster Shores and Westminster Communities of Florida are closely monitoring Tropical Storm Idalia, and our top priority is ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents and team members. We are actively planning and preparing for the storm and are taking all necessary precautions. We will provide updates as they become available and throughout the storm.

  • We are pleased to have weathered Hurricane Idalia at our evacuation sites. We are now making our way back to the community for those residents who evacuated with us. Our first priority is always the safety and well-being of our residents and team members. While there may be a lot of debris and clean-up, we’re pleased that life should return to normal at our community soon.

Residents who evacuated on their own or with family members should follow the guidance of community administration about when to return to the community.

We thank all of the communities and their residents and team members who supported our evacuations: Westminster Palms and Westminster Suncoast in St. Petersburg, Poet’s Walk in Sarasota, Florida Presbyterian Homes in Lakeland, Westminster Towers in Orlando, and Westminster Winter Park and Westminster Baldwin Park.

  • We want to update you on the status of residents who were required to be relocated from Westminster Shores due to the evacuation order for Level A areas issued by Pinellas County Emergency Management office on Monday, August 28.

Pinellas County has not yet issued an “all clear” for the evacuation of Level A.  Additionally, Westminster Shores Assisted Living has to be cleared by the Agency of Health Care Administration before any Assisted Living resident can return to either the Underwood building or Bahama Villas.

No residents can return to Westminster Shores until notified by a Westminster Shores team member.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with waiting for the approved time for residents to return to the campus.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

  • We are continuing to weather the storm at our evacuation sites. Everyone is safe and doing well. Thank you to the team members and residents at Westminster Palms and Westminster Suncoast in St. Petersburg, Westminster Towers in Orlando, Westminster Winter Park, Florida Presbyterian Homes in Lakeland, Legacy Pointe at UCF in Orlando and Poet’s Walk in Sarasota for supporting our residents.

We will continue to follow the guidance of local emergency management officials. We are already making plans to return home, once the storm has passed and it is safe to do so, for those residents who evacuated with us. After the storm we will evaluate any potential damage to our community, because the safety of residents and team members is our first priority.

We will update with more information about our plans to return to the community and when it is safe for residents who evacuated on their own to return home.
