The Value of Independent Living in St. Petersburg

Discover the benefit of choosing active retirement living at Westminster Shores, on the waterfront of beautiful Bahama Shores

When you choose to live at a Life Plan Community like Westminster Shores, you’re also putting a plan in place for your future, a plan that provides assurance for your long-term healthcare as well as your financial security. As needs change, our community offers a full continuum of care and supportive services, like assisted living, nursing care, therapy and more.

We are often asked about the price to live at Westminster Shores, what services are included, and how the contracts work.

What Does It Cost to Live at Westminster Shores?

To live at a Life Plan Community like Westminster Shores in St. Petersburg, new residents sign a Residency Agreement and pay a one-time Entrance Fee, along with a monthly fee. The entrance fee guarantees access to the community’s full continuum of supportive and healthcare services and ensures a plan is in place for the future.

A variety of contract options are offered by Life Plan Communities. At Westminster Shores, we offer a “Modified,” or “Type B,” continuing care contract. That means that you enjoy all of the benefits of living at the community, with the assurance of additional care and services readily available as needs change. Should assisted living, memory care or nursing care be needed in the future, the monthly fees will be discounted by 15% to 20% off the non-resident private pay rates. Some types of guaranteed refundable Entrance Fee options may also be available, in which a portion of the Entrance Fee would be refunded to your estate.

The Monthly Service Fee includes a variety of services to enhance your lifestyle, typically including dining, housekeeping, lifestyle and activities programs, scheduled transportation, utilities, 24-hour security and much more. You may be surprised to find that the monthly service fee is a great value compared to your current expenses maintaining your home.

As of April 1, 2023, the Entrance Fees and Monthly Service Fees for Independent Living at Westminster Shores are:

  • Apartments and Villa Homes – Studio: Entrance Fee starting at $66,200, Monthly Service Fee starting at $2,248
  • Apartments and Villa Homes – 1 Bedroom: Entrance Fee starting at $120,700, Monthly Service Fee starting at $2,474

The Financial Benefits of Living at Westminster Shores

Westminster Shores is a strong financial partner for your future, too. As part of the family of Westminster Communities of Florida, we have an investment-grade, A- rating from Fitch Ratings and a Mission-inspired commitment to good stewardship of our residents’ resources. Because you’re choosing a Life Plan Community as a plan for your future, our financial strength becomes yours, too.

The Residency Agreement guarantees that if a resident outlives their resources through no fault of their own, they will remain in the community for the rest of their life. This is made possible by the generous support of the Westminster Communities Foundation’s Benevolent Assistance program, which provides assistance to residents to continue living an active and enriching lifestyle in their community. Learn more about our Benevolent Assistance program.

As a faith-based organization, we offer a special program to support those who have given their lives to service, with a grant or discount toward the Entrance Fee. That includes a special Honorable Service Grant to retired clergy through the Westminster Communities Foundation, and our Distinguished Service Award to thank those who served, such as retired military, police officers, teachers and firefighters.

We are often asked how the Residency Agreement benefits those with Long Term Care (LTC) insurance. If you need more support later in life, like Assisted Living or Nursing Care, then your LTC policy may pay for some or all of the costs, depending on your policy. In addition, the discounted rates offered to residents with a Residency Agreement can further reduce the cost for these future care needs, if it should be needed.
